CGHMN (Compu Global Hyper Mega Net) - The Worst Network On Earth.

Just a while ago, I discovered a service claiming to be a "ISP for Vintage Computers", so I made an account, tried it, and it always felt.. off. The people there were always kind of strange, and the owner was kind of.. rude. Now I had my PowerMac G4 Quicksilver hooked to the network, and while I was on the network, I guess it was fun, but there was never any stuff I could really interract with. The only AIM revival service was dead, it took quite a while to get a E-Mail account, and overall it felt sort of half baked. Now this wasnt really that big of a problem, as I had grand plans to buy a Sun Fire V240 to really bring life to the service, but then BANG! I got perma-banned. Now me and the owner (and greater community) kind of had conflicting viewpoints (they're all on the other side of the political spectrum compared to me, I was more corporate leaning than them who were more individual leaning, etc.) but I really never expected it to be very much of a problem, but I guess not for the owner. It really all starts with the owners (Cursed Silicon) unstoppable urge to call every little thing he doesn't like "fascist", even if it doesnt align with the definition of the word. Five Nights at Freddy's? Fascist. Anyone vaguely right leaning? Fascist. Anyone who has ever said anything good about our current president? Fascist. Trust me, I don't like the current guy either, but I would not be grouping him with Adolf Hitler. He's a terrible person, but not that bad. Apparently, because I didnt agree with his ideology of calling everything I don't like fascist, I can assume I was banned. I say "assumed" because he never actually gave me a ban reason. Gee, real kind for the owner to go ban someone without a single warning just because they said something you don't like. 1984, anybody? Eventually, I did end up asking Cursed for a ban reason, but his responses are about as dumb as his original decision was.

Now after my instant unexpected banning, I was left without a reason for my ban or anything. Now initially I planned on just asking one of their moderators I spoke to a bit ago, but they had DM's off. After a bit, I e-mailed Cursed via the contact e-mail for the service to get a response, complain about my rather stupid ban, and a actual ban reason. Apparently this was too difficult for poor little Cursed as all they could say is that my behavior was (and I quote) "not a singular incident but a consistent (and continuing) pattern of behaviour that lead to your removal". Real professional and concise (NOT). I thought this was even more moronic, so I sent a response with a little piece of my mind and yet another request for a real ban reason. Of course, Cursed, being the absolute galaxy-brained genius he is, didnt even take the time out of his sad, sorry life to read waht I said, and responsed with the following image.

My Solution
Now at this point, I'd rather take myself out back with a shotgun than touch his orwellian service again, so I've been doing preliminary work at making my own service (with a current working title of "YANet" or "Yet Another Network", with the express goal to do what he attemped, but far, far better. First off, my network will be fully closed, which means unlike Cursed's network, there will be no traffic capable of being sent to the real internet from any device connected. If you need updates, I'll be glad to host em. Secondly, I fully intend on open sourcing my project under Apache 2.0, as I think the developer should have all the freedom in the world to do what they want with my code, as long as I am credited. Thirdly, I will have a real ruleset and EXCLUSIVELY ban people for EXPLICITLY BREAKING A RULE MULTIPLE TIMES. I'll give out warnings and temp bans, but never a instant perma-ban without a single warning, as I believe in this crazy thing Cursed seemingly can't comprehend known as "justice". Cursed, If you're reading this, I hope you know I will fight tooth and nail to keep this page live and to get my own damn network going. If I could give it a negative rating, I would, but for now, I'll give it a 1/10 compared to other revival services. AIM Phoenix, which was ran by a schizo right wing nutjob, had better moderation.

Server Upgrades and a new "tradition"?

Here at NDC-World, we try to make viewing this page as tolerable as possible no matter who you are, from the sweatiest of gamers to the most souless retail employees. This is why we've been doing some work behind the scenes to make this site more enjoyable which could let me add more features like a comments section or some wacky interactable things to this site soon.

What does that actually mean??
Part of these upgrades involves learning Python, an absolutely terrible programming language designed to make your life as miserable as possible. Luckily, it's not nearly as bad as every other backend programming language ever made. I chose it because it's actually readable, makes adding interaction stuff to this site easy, and actually runs on the server I host this site on (pictured below).

The server that NDC-World is hosted on. Probably runs better than whatever crapbox PC you're reading this on.

A new tradition?
As the owner of this website, I'm personally responsible for keeping it relevant by putting content on it that will keep it alive. I don't want to be like modern SomethingAwful which has become effectively a corpse being paraded around by the ~4 active users still posting on that graveyard of a website. To keep my site relevant, I'm creating a new tradition that I call the "Media of the Week". How original. I'll upload either a video or a music file of something I find cool for you people to look at. Alternatively, I might go LARP as SomethingAwful even more and do a Protoweb link of the day if I feel like it. This should keep the site more alive and interesting to look at. Anyways, I gotta go walk my dog, so I'm going to cut this update post here. Sorry for yet another short update, unlike some people on the internet, I actually have a life that I want to indulge in from time to time. Toodles.
